- Two days after Guti had made his first signing as a Manager, the second signing came in the form of Malaga youngster Recio. The 20 year old midfielder can play in attacking and defending positions in the center of midfield and will play in Elche on a 1 season loan. The Elche fans were excited as they now have 2 promising youngsters between their ranks with Alex Fernadez joining them earlier this week. Recio will have number 13 in the back of his kit while Alex will wear 32. Guti couldn't keep his excitement on making another signing of another promising player during the press conference.
Guti "It's great to have him here. He will probably play most games in the defensive midfielder position, but is versatile enough to play a few games in the attcaking portion of midfield. I expect a lot from him, and hopefully he can deliver." Recio himself explained to the press why he accepted the loan to Elche Recio "I love Malaga and wish to be succesful there. But right now, I need to play games in order to improve, and in Malaga I wouldn't have too many games this season. I hope I can impress them by having a great season here and hopefully leading the club back to Primera" Moving it over to the next page. | |

| Well, now that August is Finnally over, let's review Elche's month, including many transfer negotiations done by Manager Guti and the start of the Liga Adelante season away to Cordoba. Following the loan signings of Alex Fernadez from Real Madrid and Recio from Malaga, Guti brought in 4 more players. The first transfer that Elche did this season was for veteran center back Moller Christensen from Odense Boldklub for $350,000. He brngs strength and experience to the back line and is expected to play an important part this season. Elche then bought Cordoba left back Fuentes for $650,000. The player was brought in to add depth to the team, although he could earn a place in the starting 11 if in form. Then Elche made 2 more loan signings as they got Bangoura from Rayo Vallecano and Felipe Mattioni from Espanyol on season loans. In an ectic Transfer Deadline Day, 5 different strikers rejected moves to Elche before Colombian forward Jackson Martinez joined Guti's side for $5,500,000 from Chiapas 2 hours before the deadline. With so many players coming in, others had to leave. Youngster Yeray left on a season loan to Morecambe as he gains first team experience. Captain Genarelo packed his bags towards Xerez after a $1,200,000 offer was too good to refuse for the 32 year old. Young striker Abraham has left the club as he wishes to work his trade in England after a $240,000 offer from Hereford was accepted. Star winger Xumetra was supposed to be an important part of Elche's season, but Recreativo's $1,400,000 offer was to good an the player has left the club. Starting right back Carpio had rebelled against the club, and after a week of not showing up for training, was granted his wish to leave the club as Rayo got the player for $1,200,000. Elche's top scorer last season, Angel, left for Real Murcia for $3,100,000 2 days before the deadline. In total, 6 players have left the club(5 permanentely, 1 on loan) and 7 have come in to replace them (4 on loan, 3 permanent). Before Angel's departure and Martinez's arrival, the Liga Adelante season started for Elche as they played away to Cordoba. In this game, Alex, Recio,Christensen, Bangoura, and Felipe Mattioni made their debuts for the club as they were part of the starting 11. The day didn't start out well for Guti's men as Charles put Cordoba ahead 19 minutes in. After that, Elche took control as Alex Fernadez led the team attack after attack. It payed of when Subsitute Linares-who had come in for Angel just 3 minutes before-beat Cordoba's goalkeeper 8 minutes from time to give Elche a point in their first game of the season. FINAL SCORE: Cordoba 1(Charles 19'), Elche 1(Linares 82')Elche's next game is against Almeria at home, in a game in which Jackson Martinez and Fuentes are set to make their debuts. | |

| September was a great month for Elche as they got 10 out of 12 possible points in the league and qualified to the next round of the Copa Del Rey. Alex, Kike Mateo, Bille Nielsen, and Martinez scored their first goals of the season in an unbeaten month for Elche. First of, they faced recently relegated club Almeria at home. The fans cheered the team in Guti's first home game as Alex put Elche ahead 13 minutes in. It was Alex's first goal of the season, and it ended up being enough for Elche to win in Martinez's and Fuentes's debut. Elche 1(Alex 13') Almeria 0. After the win against Almeria, Elche's Copa Del Rey campaign got underway as they played away to Las Palmas. Javi Garrido put the home side ahead 19 minutes in through a penalty before Bille Nielsen tied right before half time. The game went to extra time, in which Elche got put down to 10 men after another penalty was called. Javi Garrido scored from the spot again for Las Palmas 6 minutes from time, but substitute Linares tied the game in the 119th minute. Elche would then win in the Penalty shoot-out and qualify to the next round. Las Palmas 2(Javi Garrido 19'(pen), 114' (pen)) Elche 2(Bille Nielsen 44', Linares 119') 4-5 p.Elche then traveled to Catalunia as they visted Barcelona B. The Barca youngsters only had 1 point from the first 2 games, and luck was not on their side this time. Kike Mateo scored his first goal of the season in the 41st minute after a great Elche attack was headed in. Elche continued their attacks, but hit the posts 3 times before the game ended with a 1-0 victory. Barcelona B 0 Elche 1(Kike Mateo 41' Elche dropped points at home when they face Cartegena after what was a horrible game for Guti's men. Cartagena dominated the first half, and Nauzet put them ahead in the end of the first half through a penalty kick that Elche's goalkeeper couldn't stop. However, Linares was once more the answer from the bench as he scored the goal to level the score up 8 minutes from time and mantain Elche's unbeaten start to the season. Elche 1(Linares 82') Caratgena 1(Nauzet 45' (pen)) The month ended with a visit to fellow promotion hopefulls Girona in what was the best game of September in Liga Adelante. Kike Mateo continued his incredible form as he put Elche ahead 6 minutes in. In the 23rd minute, Jackson Martnez scored his first goal since joining from Chiapas to put his side 2-0 up with a well taken penalty kick. However, in the second half, Saizar was able to put the game 2-1 after beating Christensen to the ball. Martinez put Elche 2 goals clear again in the 57th minute after taking advanteg of a rebound left by the Girona keeper from an Alex Fernadez long range shot. Jota would close the gap again in the 74th minute with a good goal. The last 15 minutes were full of suspense as Girona went for another goal while elche tried to keep their lead. Pellagrin, Elche's starting center back, saved a goal in the line after a corner kick had been headed by Saizar in the 88th minute. In the end, Elche were able to take all 3 points against tough oppsition and end the month in outstanding fashion. Girona 2(Saizar 52', Jota 74') Elche 3 (Kike Mateo 6', J. Martinez 23'(pen), 57') Elche's first game in October will be against Alcorcon as they will try to continue the great form they had in September. | |
